Perth - Lancelin

Rated as one of the world's premier wind/kitesurfing locations, Lancelin also offers plenty of other water sports such as surfing, snorkelling, diving, boating, swimming, fishing and sandboarding.

Lancelin is just one and a half hours drive north of Perth, and the small town has excellent facilities with everything from the tavern/motel, restaurants, bakeries/takeaways and general store, to the surf shop. The lodge (voted the best YHA hostel in Western Australia) is a new purpose-built budget travellers' facility in Lancelin, situated only 200m from the windsurfing and surf beach. The lodge is clean, friendly and has a home-away-from-home atmosphere. It has activity equipment for loan including bikes, bodyboards, surfboards, wet suits, snorkelling and tennis gear. Facilities include a volleyball court, table tennis, various board games, TV/video and various videos for guest use. There is also a new 15m swimming pool.

Lancelin is one of the prime locations in the world for wind/kitesurfing and the lodge is set up to cater for the wind/kitesurfers who come for the summer season. Hire windsurf gear and lessons are available on the beach at Werners Hot Spot. There is also a free lock up for gear at the lodge.

Kayaks, windsurfing, surfing and sandboarding equipment can be hired. Diving, snorkelling, fishing charters, Bigfoot Dune and Pinnacle Tours can be arranged from the lodge.

The lodge is purpose built with all rooms opening onto a verandah and a garden courtyard. Sheets and quilts are supplied (towels are not supplied).

Lodge facilities are shared and there is a large commercial-type kitchen with everything supplied for your needs, i.e. pots, pans, plates, cups, urn, toasters, microwave, fridges and freezer, etc. All you need is your food. Guests have plenty of storage in the kitchen for dry and refrigerated foods.

There is a large dining area designed to capture the winter sun, with everything supplied including TV, video, books and games plus an open fire for winter. Table tennis and BBQ are also available under a covered courtyard. There are ample showers and toilets, with the ladies' and men's block having 4 showers each. A separate shower/toilet facility for the disabled is provided and also a guest laundry.

Accommodation at the lodge varies from 6 double/twin rooms, 4 family rooms (some have double beds and sleep 4-5) and 4 group rooms (6 - 8 persons).
